Dale Zola, MA Music, has been teaching singing and leading singing groups for the past thirty five years. Her approach with students and singing group members is respectful, supportive and clear.
Dale is also a singer/songwriter and has produced two CD’s of her songs, The Heart of a Miller and The Breeze at Dawn: Poems of Rumi in Song.
Dale has sung the jazz standards professionally, backed up by piano players Federico Cervantes and Si Perkoff. She has also led singalongs of the jazz standards in retirement homes, and has compiled two large print song books for residents to be able to read the words.
For the past eighteen years she has co-produced, with her husband Dan, spoken word events called The Great Night of Rumi and The Great Night of Soul Poetry. These are evenings of poetry, in the format of a variety show, with many different presenters, from various backgrounds and ethnic groups, performing poetry backed up by live musicians. For the last twelve years they have produced these events at The Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. (For more information on poetry events, go to dzola.com.)
Dale knows without a doubt that we can all sing. It is our birthright.
